What type of wood are our planting tables made from?
Our beds are made from FSC larch from British plantations. Larch is much stronger than pine, as durable as western red cedar and offers good value for money when compared with hardwoods, such as oak or elm.

It's a beautiful wood that has a pinky-brown hue to it which weathers to a lovely silver-grey. It is naturally resistant to rot thanks to its extremely high resin content. We haven't pressure treated, varnished or painted it and there's no need for you to either.

It really is extraordinary wood, perfect for long-lasting planting tables.

What are planting tables?
If you find bending difficult, consider using one of our planting tables, which are like raised beds on legs. They stand 80cm high and can be placed anywhere in the garden - on the patio and even indoors with our unique drainage system. With up to 40cm of soil depth, you can still grow a wide range of crops.
Why choose planting tables?
Less work
Growing vegetables and other crops in planting tables means no more annual digging, far less weeding and much less bending. Crop rotation is easier, too.

Earlier start
You can begin sowing and planting spring crops earlier because soil in planting tables warms up more quickly and can be culitvated earlier.

More crops
Since you can grow much closer together you will harvest more from your garden. The crops will take less time to reach maturity so more crops each year can be grown in the same piece of soil.

Less waste
Crops grown in planting tables can be protected more easily and will suffer less pest and disease damage as a result, so you will end up throwing less away.

Quicker results
Warmer soil and an ideal growing environment will mean crops grow more quickly and will be ready to harvest much sooner.

Longer growing season
Warmer soil and a protected environment means crops keep growing through the autumn and you can even harvest crops in the winter, too.
